Yosemite with the Fam

It’s been a long while that my family hung out together. I give major props for my sisters for planning this family trip. I was definitely passenger princess for the planning. This was the first time my parents visited Yosemite, and my first time in about 8 years. It’s pretty crazy to think about considering it is relatively close.

I booked one of the late Southwest that almost became a mistake. SFO had paused arrivals due to the fog and we didn’t take off until 3 hours later. We met up with my sister at the SFO Marriott to rest up before driving to Yosemite. I had forgotten I bought lounge access so it was nice to feed all 6 of us a nice breakfast before driving out.

My SIL get bad motion sickness so she decided to drive the whole time. So thankful for that! We weren’t sure how in-share our parents were so we only did easy hikes. We hiked Lower Yosemite Fall Trail and it was pleasant. I hadn’t visited this section so was hyped.

We took our time taking some super artistic pics.

The next day we visited Mariposa Grove. Always a treat seeing sequoias. We hiked the Grizzly Giant Loop Trail which was a nice 2mi loop with ample shade.

We had some time to kill before dinner so we visited the Wawona Visitor Center at Hill’s Studio and Yosemite History Center. Unfortunately there weren’t any activities at Yosemite History Center but it was still fun reading about the history of the people that moved and lived here. We eventually drove out to Jackalope’s Bar and Grill for dinner- I had the short rib pasta.

Sadly we were going home the next day. We stopped by Bridalveil Falls and El Capitan Meadow to (literally) soak up as much of Yosemite before flying back home.

The flight back to San Diego was on time. We were assigned front seats this time which allowed us to have free drinks. We don’t often plan these types of trips because each of us knows it can get stressful and don’t want to deal with it. I’m really happy we were able to make this trip happen. I’ve breathed Yosemite air again and I can’t want to go back.
