My first destination wedding and it’s in Italy. We first started the trip lounging around Nice; with a side quest to Monaco and Eze. Then met up with some friends to explore Rome and the Vatican City. Took a train to Florence and ate some delicious foods before joining wedding crew. After a White Lotus experience, we attempted to stay cool in Pisa and Florence.
Getting to Florence from Rome was hella easy. It took about two hours from departing Roma Termini and arriving in S.M Novella and walking to our Airbnb. Italy really has train travel down. We met up with the bride’s sister and brother-in-law. They showed us around and gave recommendations on where to go before the wedding. We ended ended the night with a dinner at Trattoria dei 13 Gobbi. I ate and only took a picture of pappardelle al cinghiale, a wild boar ragu that is a signature dish in Tuscany. There were other tasty items like a bowl of rigatonni and melon with prosciutto (this dish specially we started to replicate whenever we can). Oh btw, this post is essentially going to be a food photo dump. There was so much good eating in Florence!

The following day, we went shopping because my friend and I needed shoes. What better place to get leather? For lunch we ate at Osteria La Dolce Vita Firenze for some delicious seafood pasta. On the way to climb up Brunellischi’s Dome and Giotto’s Bell Tower, back-to-back, we walked by a wine window so of course we had to indulge.

The views at both Brunellischi’s Dome and Giotto’s Bell Tower were amazing. But if you only want to do one, definitely choose the Dome. During the climb you get to see a massive fresco with some gnarly art. But if you want to actually see the Dome, the Bell Tower is the move.

This was our last night before heading to the wedding so we decided to have eat some Florentine steak at Braceria A11 for dinner. The best thing I ate on this trip was from this spot, and it wasn’t the steak. We had a pear dumpling with truffle dish that was sooo good. We definitely slept good that night.

We were able to visit the Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze to see David. The one in Vegas just doesn’t cut it. Of course we had to eat before heading over. For breakfast we had pizza (had to since we’re in Italy, right?) and on the way there grabbed a lampredotto (cow stomach, another Florentine specialty) sandwich on the way. Even though we had a timed ticket, we still had to wait to get inside- everyone is there for David.
