Desti-Weddi, Cacio e Vino: Aggro-turismo

My first destination wedding and it’s in Italy. We first started the trip lounging around Nice; with a side quest to Monaco and Eze. Then met up with some friends to explore Rome and the Vatican City. Took a train to Florence and ate some delicious foods before joining wedding crew. After a White Lotus experience, we attempted to stay cool in Pisa and Florence.

The wedding was at a gorgeous agriturismo called Borgo Divino. This was about a 40 minute drive from the S.M Novella station in Florence. We met up with the rest of the SD friends at dinner and it got hectic quick. The food was delicious and the wine too good.

The next morning was tranquil but we had to get our shit together because the ceremony was in the late afternoon.

The staff at Borgo Divino did a great job setting up the whole agriturismo for the wedding ceremony. As a surprise, they turned their wine cellar into a makeshift club at the end of the night. The actual ceremony was sweet and I’m so glad to have bee a part of my friends’ special day. Literally wouldn’t have done this trip if we never met them.

The next day was a fever dream. I spent multiple hours posted up by the pool, attended a cooking class and took a tour of their wine cellar (when it’s not a club). Of course it’s not a wedding without the chisme. Towards the end of dinner, one of the guests, let’s call her Meds, became the lowlight of the night. At first I thought Meds was joking when she came up to another guest and yelled-asked for her book. Then she threw glass on the table and the shards scattered onto the other table. Another guest reacted by putting her in a choke hold and dragged her all the way to her room. What a buzzkill. After an hour or so, ambulance came and picked Meds up. Everyone still confused but at least we can sleep without fear of getting glass thrown at us. We woke up to someone cursing very loudly and realized it was Meds. Bro, it was like 6 am. Apparently Meds was coherent enough that the ambulance brought her back. Eventually, the ambulance once again picked her up after other guests found out Meds had stopped taking her medications for weeks. Someone relayed that Meds said she wanted to drink but her prescription forbade it. This whole ordeal happened for about 16 hours until we had to check-out.

There were other characters on this chapter. One, let’s cal her Strawberry, was a very eclectic person. Strawberry was very friendly but all over the place. Like during the wine cellar club, she tried to entice the group with her personal alcohol bottles to hangout with her. During Meds’ ordeal, she was guiding people to go around this tree so Meds wouldn’t see us. Another person, let’s call her White, kept bringing negativity since we met her and likely egged Meds on to react they way she did. We later found out, White played that song that goes “Home, let me come home Home is wherever I’m with you” to Meds. No wonder White got socked by her.

The newlyweds and their family definitely held it down. They made sure the rest of guests weren’t disturbed and enjoyed their time. But it did feel like we were part of the show White Lotus for a brief moment.
